Trail runs and relays

The Vancouver 100km, the Knee Knacker and Stormy are the big trail races this summer.  PRR will have a presence in all of them, with close to 15 members participating in Stormy. Volunteers wanted!

June 7 & 8 - the Vancouver 100 -  Fresh off the success of her 50 mile trail races, Jess will be attempting her first 100km on the challenging “double Knee Knacker” course.  Anyone interested in cheering or crewing?  At least one club member (Sukhi) has already been recruited to run the dreaded Black Mountain section with Jess.

Bill will also be running this one - it’s just a short 100 km warm up for him.  Several club members will be helping out with pacing/crewing.  Everyone is welcome to cheer at various points on the course.

July 12 - Knee Knacker - Bill D, Susan, Terry, Jim, Jon F, Sukhi, Arthur, Bill L, & Henry  will be participating in the 50km trail race.  Dave & Jackie M are heading up the volunteer efforts at Cypress and will be assisted as always by a dedicated group of PRR volunteers.  Mike, Marco (maybe) and Nicki will be staffing another smaller PRR aid station at Skyline. Looking for a few good
(wo)men to assist.  Or maybe a few good looking men to assist.  Something like that.

If you’re not running - come out and cheer the runners on.  They really appreciate it.

August 8 & 9 - Stormy - the big one.  Friday August 8 noon start for our two crazy 100 milers.  Anyone interested in running through the night or providing crew support - talk to Bill or Jess.  I’m sure they’ll find a way that you can help.

August 9 - 6:00 am start for the 50 mile solo (Sukhi and Ellie) and the relay.  So far we have two teams entered.  Teams can be anywhere from 2-7 runners.  Team 1 PRR J&TS (John, Terry & Susan) threw out the challenge.  Team 2 (Dean, Diana, Laura, Grant, Karen & Monique) are definitely capable of rising to that challenge.  Should make for an interesting finish.

Anyone who isn’t racing or crewing - volunteers are needed.  See the Stormy site  http://homepage.mac.com/designr2/stormy/

Or just bring a lawn chair and come out and cheer for your club mates.

June 3 update

Ellie and Sukhi ran the Iron Knee 25 km trail race on May 31.  Sukhi cut 10 minutes off last year’s time coming in at 2:18:00

Ellie won the race - beating the number 2 female by a full 4 seconds.  It’s good to have competition - right Ellie!  Ellie’s time was 1:54:52  - First woman and 18th overall.  Well done!

May 13 update

On May 10 Jess won her division in the North Face Endurance Challenge 50 miler (12:35:01) which means she now qualifies for the Stormy 100.  Crazy.
Bill was 9th overall in the race - in a very competitive field.  (9:31:31)

Next for our crazy ultra fans - the Vancouver 100 - formerly known as the Double Knee Knacker.  June 7

Also on May 10 - Dave, Jackie, Monique, Bill, Kris, Emily and Ian ran the Pacific Spirit. Jackie and Ian ran the 5km - with no official results posted. Here are the 10k times
Kris  47:48.6
Monique  48:48.1
Dave 54:16.4
Bill 54:17.1
Emily 55:31.7

===========

PRR’s top women - impressive again!

Ellie was hoping to break 3 hours - meaning 2:59:59 would have been great.  She smashed that target finishing in 2:55:18 - the 3rd woman to cross the finish line! - and first in her division.  Congratulations Ellie.  That’s 12 minutes faster than her previous personal best (2 weeks ago in Boston.)

Susan had a “recent” personal best of 3:11:46 - also 2 weeks after Boston.  She finished 2nd in her division and seemed relaxed the whole way. Way to go!

==========

The relay team (Dean, Nicki, Lan, Debby, Shi-Ling) finished 2nd overall and 1st in its division (3:24:42)- yay team.

Plus the following full marathon finishers:

Henry  3:25:33
Sukhi  3:33:19
Terry 3:35:59
Dan 4:56:12
Arthur 4:57:59

And the Half:

Catherine 1:59:29
Brian 2:00:48
Crystal 2:02:01
Victoria 2:04:12
Len 2:15:40
