International Running events

The Boston gang (12 club members plus 2 that joined after the race!) thoroughly enjoyed their April 21 event.

What’s still to come?

Medoc September 6.  8 members (Monique, Bill, Nicki, Mike B, Jess, Mike S, Len, Bonnie) plus 4 friends are headed to a 42 km long costume party complete with 25 wine tastings, 50 chateaux, and over 30 bands.  Now that’s a run.   http://www.marathondumedoc.com/

Jess is bookending her European vacation with the Medoc marathon at the beginning and Geneva at the end.  http://www.genevemarathon.ch/index.php?prm_lang=en.

Dan is headed to Maui for the Sept 17 marathon. http://www.mauimarathon.com/

Grant will be one of 45,000 runners in the Chicago marathon.  Laura will be cheering (there’s no half marathon at this event.) http://www.chicagomarathon.com/cms400min/chicago_marathon/

Carol sent in the following links for international marathon travel for those who want to broaden their running horizons (the first one is a Canadian Company):

http://dreamtravelcanada.com/  - some interesting looking marathon tours
http://www.big-five-marathon.com/   - a marathon through a game preserve in South Africa.  Do you have to be fast enough to outrun the lions?

Knee Knacker results

July 12 6:00 am

Of the 9 PRR members who “won” the Knee Knacker lottery, 7 survived the training to make it to race day. Susan, Bill, Terry, Jim (who survived the training by not doing it!), Sukhi, Jon F, and Henry hit the trails for the steep start to the Knee Knacker 50km.

Only slightly later Dave, Jackie, Sally, Paul, Lan, Barb and John - until he left to sweep half of the course - were busy setting up the Cypress Bowl aid station. The Skyline station - Marco, Mike, Nicki, Jess and Nelson - with thanks to Rik who brought coffee and Maurice and Deanna who showed up to cheer & assist - weren’t on duty until the civilized hour of 8 am.  And of course Bettie was everywhere she could be - taking pictures.

Enough about the volunteers.  Here’s how our stars performed in the heat

Bill  6:04:10 (personal best!)
Susan  6:16:25 (4th woman, first in her division!)
Terry  7:07:32
Sukhi  7:32:33
Jim 7:32:37
Jon 8:25:04
Henry - we have photograpic eveidence of Henry crossing the finish - but nothing in the results!

Congratulations to all of you.

Once again - feel free to use the “leave a reply” form to post comments.  Your comments have to be moderated so they may take a while to show up!
