18 PRRers journeyed to the West Coast of the Island to spend a gorgeous weekend at the hotsprings, on the beach, at the spa… Oh ya, we ran too.
This is going to be a tough weekend to beat. Those of you who didn’t join us this year - mark it on your calendar for next year. E2E is a great small event. And when you have Monique as the organizer-extraordinaire, the weekend takes on added dimension. But more on that in the next newsletter.
We had two superstars who ran solo events:
Jackie M - first ever Half Marathon (which means it’s an automatic Personal Best) 2:17:41 on an *f-ing* hilly course.
Dave M - first (last and only) Full Marathon (which means it’s an automatic Personal Best) 4:40:25.
FANTASTIC result for the Ms.
The rest of us wussed out and ran the relay. All the fun of participating without any of the hassle of training.
PRR 1 - 3:29:13 6th overall. Team Members: Len, Monika, Dean, Premica, Grant
PRR 2 - 3:39:51 3rd in the women’s division! Team Members: Dianna, Monique, Nicki, Laura, Emily
PRR 3 - 4:02:41 Team Members: Arthur, Lynne, Ian, Bill, Mike
The weekend ended early for 10 of the 18 participants who very responsibly returned to their day jobs on Monday. The rest of the slackers hung around for a beach fire on Sunday night and for the Sea Lion show from the patio of a Ucluelet restaurant on Monday. City folk pay big money to see this kind of thing in aquariums.
A great time was had by all.

Nice evening for a run. The Longest Day Race is a favourite - because of the unusual time -Friday evening - and because of the post race BBQ.
This year we had a smaller turnout due to a conflicting event (more on that in a separate posting) but the following PRRers ran the race - and hopefully saw Dave and Jackie marshalling along the way:
5km
Russell 17:25 - 4th in his age group - (what’s up with the 20 year age groups???)
Dan 27:01 - 10th in his age group
10km
Holly 40:45 - 2nd woman overall!!
John - 42:29
Bill C - 43:28
Sam T 43:31
Paul P 59:43
Congratulations runners.
If you can’t put a face to the names (say for our newest members Sam and Holly) then it must be time to show up for a club night or for the July BBQ. Watch for email updates on the July social.
