Portland Marathon - Oct 3

There were supposed to be two Parslows in this race but unfortunately Matthew hasn’t recovered from his injury yet.

But Stephen had a great run - completing the race in 3:33 and change. We’re looking forward to hearing about it.

Run for the Toad - Oct 3

Gone but not forgotten - Ellie’s still a club member and we’ll continue to track her accomplishments.  Even when they’re at silly-named Ontario trail runs.  This race is a big 25/50 km race.  You can read all about it on their website. http://www.runforthetoad.com/home.html

What’s most important to us is that Ellie was there - and she won the 50 km in a time of   3:54 - Smashed the women’s record and came in fourth overall.

(Thanks Susan and John for catching the results error.)

Whistler Rubble Creek 26 km - Sept 27

What better way to spend a sunny Sunday than to run 26 km through the trails.  From the Rubble Creek website - here is a course description

The Rubble Creek Classic climbs from Cheakamus Lake trail up (2915ft) and across Helm Creek flats giving spectacular panoramic views along the way. With the final a knee jarring decent of 4015ft. to finish at the Rubble creek Parking lot.

Sounds like exactly the kind of race that would appeal to our trail running enthusiasts.  John, Terry and Ellie took on the challenge - with Sukhi as their chauffeur.

Ellie won - of course!  (2:19)`John was the fastest in his age group (2:40) even though they don’t officially recognize age groups.  And Terry had the best fall.  In fact Terry should win a perseverance award because he finished the race despite having broken a couple of ribs en route.  They were so worried about getting him some medical attention when he crossed the finish line that they forgot to record his time - literally adding insult to injury. But he officially finished.  Hope you heal quickly Terry!
