Solo 50 milers:

Ellie broke the women’s course record by almost an hour! Ellie’s time from last year was just shy of the record (8:19:07 and the record was 8:13:50). A *slight* improvement this year brought her in at 7:16:07. To put that in perspective - she even beat the old men’s record. Now if only that guy hadn’t broken his own record. Ellie was third overall  - only 4 min 08 behind the fastest man.

Ross completed the race in 10:07:16 - 24th overall. Okay maybe not as headline worthy as above but hey - it’s a major accomplishment (particularly for a “Clydesdale”). Well done Ross.

Ed finished under the wire at 11:53:43. Well done Ed. Could you smell the ribs as you neared the finish line?

And now the relay teams:

Jets - Susan, Terry and Stephen - just ahead of Ellie at 7:13:04. (Would you have been embarrassed if she passed you, Terry? Wait til next year.)

3 Slackers and a Lunatic: Dan, Carla, Rik and Rick - 8:30:22

PRR Plodders: Amanda’s gang -  with Janet, Lan, Monique and Ian - 8:40:54

Monika and the Fat Boys: Monika, Dave M, Jim, Bill P and Heather (who was a substitute for one of the Fat Boys and likely not thrilled by her team name)  8:48:44

PRR Painkillers: Sukhi’s team -  with Len, Arthur, Jackie, Emily and Mike P 9:35:19

Everyone - but mostly Dave M - enjoyed the post race Memphis Blues BBQ. We like this event so much that it may one day outstrip H2H for attendance. Maybe because it isn’t in November?

A huge thanks to the PRR volunteers: Judi, Bettie, Jack  and our newest member - David P who joined the club Aug 4 and did his first volunteer stint on Aug 8.  That’s the PRR spirit. Plus Jess and Bill manned an overnight aid station for the 100 milers. They probably sat there thinking ~ so happy I’m not running.

Most definitely! And if Ellie hadn’t of stopped at the 6/7 aid station it would of been a race to the finish as she was ahead of us the entire way. As it was I had to kill myself to avoid the 2nd place guy from trying to pass me. He came at me twice. I have no idea how these people can run 50 miles and still have enough left for a sprint finish!! It should be noted that Stephen was sent off course by a volunteer which cost us at least 8 minutes:)
  2. Dan Says:
I can confirm that Stephen was indeed off course. He passed me in the bush at the top of Leg #2, just before the exchange. Susan had already done Leg #2. He definitely shouldn’t have been there and said something about an extra loop that he had missed. Surprised the heck out of me. Later we found out that as he was running up the road to Alice Lake, he was told he had to go back and do that little bush section. He will know better for next year!
