Chips Not Dead Yet and the Anchorage Half Marathon
Filed under: Races
Posted by: PRR Executive @ 6:38 pm

18 PRR participants - in various states of (un)dress participated in Chips Mile race. One PRRer ventured further north to spend the longest day in Alaska.

Anchorage Half Marathon - June 20

Congratulations Monique on coming 2nd in your age group with a Half Marathon time of 1:52:4.  (We know that your real marathon this week was the travel - from Tofino to Halifax, barely home then off to Alaska.  If only the “jet set” life was as glamorous as it sounds. Enjoy the trip home!)

Chip’s Not Dead Yet - June 20

First came the pooch parade - and yes, I did have to carry the dog part way.  Then the super heros.  I hope you all enjoy pictures of Quin - our 2nd youngest honorary PRR member - and Allen with his big sister Catherine (and their parents of course.) Doug had his kids out as well.

Then the timed mile where Russell burned up the hill in just under 6 minutes (5:56.6) despite the head wind - to finish 2nd overall and 1st in his division, 20 seconds behind a guy in a loin cloth.  You don’t want to get to close to that!  Arthur also participated in the timed mile - and given the ever-present, ever-changing hat, imagine how the head wind affected him.  9:50.5 for Arthur.

As an added bonus - there was a group of librarians participating in the Rock Star wave - and our very own Kathy H - with pink streaked hair - was among them.  Nice to see you Kathy!

Despite the fact that the elite race is supposed to be the main event - let’s face it we were all waiting for the underwear category.  This wave isn’t officially timed - but it is fun to watch.  Someone should tell that guy with the serious red underwear wedgie to go ahead and buy a g string.  Bit of a an exhibitionist that one.

As for our team - well Ellie was the first woman to cross the line, followed by John, Susan, Rik, Dave, Monika and Dan.  Dave was the only person out there who appeared to be wearing slippers.  Nice touch.  Didn’t slow him down at all.
