Bellingham Bay Marathon
Arthur ran his first post-injury marathon in 5:03. Well done. (Dan calls that a 4:63 - doesn’t like to see times over 5:00)
Scotiabank Toronto Half Marathon - Sept 28
Dave M must like out of town races best. 2:08:40 in his second! half marathon this year. Well done Dave. Looking forward to hearing about the course. (Those Torontonians think they do everything better.)
Grouse Grind Mountain Run - Sept 21
Our intrepid Susan competed in this “run” and placed 6th in the elite women’s category with a time of 37:57, earning her a cash prize of $75. Rumour has it she may splurge her winnings by buying a round on Tuesday??
Frosty Mountain Trail Race, 50 and 25K - Sept 20
This first annual Mt. Frosty trail race was held in Manning Park on Saturday. Without overdoing the superlatives, our “indomitable” Sukhi capped a “stellar” year by completing his 3rd “ultra” race. He finished the 50K in a time of 6:58:52 and judging by the website photos hardly appeared to have broken into a sweat! And not to minimize our other PRR participant’s efforts, Bill and Jess completed the 25K in 2:59 and 4:00 respectively. Ellie participated by volunteering as a sweep. Great effort, all. The Terry Fox Run - Sept 14
Jack and Ellie participated in this Ceperley Park (2nd Beach) location of the annual memorial and fund-raising event.
Maui Marathon - Sept 14
Despite the blistering 30C heat and high humidity Dan completed this marathon 8th in his age category. Well done. Check out the separate blog entry for Dan’s race report.
Buntzen Lake Run - Sept 13
Kudos to the 3 PRR’ers that competed in this final race of the 2008 5 Peaks Trail Running Series. Ellie and Grant achieved 1st and 14th, respectively, in their age groups with the 15.5K Enduro event and Laura came in 7th in her age group in the 11K Sport course.
Coho Festival Fun Run 14K - Sept 7
Only 2 PRR runners in this race from Kits Beach to Ambleside, but with fantastic performances! Henry achieved 7th overall and 2nd in his age group with a time of 51:36. Carol (although officially a “no age” category, but we know better!) came in 1st in her category with a time of 1:00:36. Well done.
Marathon du Medoc - Sept 6
If performance in this marathon is rated by how long one can dawdle at the wine, cheese and oyster stops (er… aid stations) and still make the race cut-off of 6.5 hours, then top honours go to Jess, Nicki, Mike B, and Mike S for squeaking across at 6:24 and Len at 6:13. Monique, Bill P and Bonnie also participated in this “race”. We’re looking forward to a full race report in the next newsletter.
